Sections units - feelings

Unit 1 - character observes events during lunch. - could find lucille and Frans argument amusing as he never warmed to lucille, the argument could also make him slightly happy.

Unit 2 - francis sees Bunny's need for alcohol as a way to get rid of her, so that he could clear the air with Judith and Randy, therefore he takes bunny inside, thus he is left alone with Randy and Judith.

Unit 3 - Francis would feel an enormous amount of discomfort when Judith insists she tells Randy about Francis's secret crush. Judith could be acting this way because of her anger as throughout the play it becomes obvious she had true feelings for Francis. Francis storms out of the garden and into the house before he finds out what Judith says to Randy. Therefore i believe off stage he would probably be worrying about what is going outside. he could also feel disappointed with himself as he wouldn't be the one who tells Randy. this could be because of is lack of confidence, as he was previously over weight he could have still been suffering from lack of confidence.

Unit 4 - although Francis appears to be shocked at the sight of Bunny on the wall threatening to jump, i think he was more adamant to get her down as it was his birthday and he's already been in a bit of a mood, he just couldn't be bothered for any drama, especially as we thanks to Lucille that drama happens a lot in the neighbourhood.

Unit 5 - Francis could be getting fed up at all of drama, he could be annoyed by all of Hershals pleading.

Unit 6 - here Francis proves he is smart by showing us his quick thinking. he uses his initiative by getting g them to call Lucille. however he gives the wrong number which could imply he is not thinking straight because of all in his head. but then again he gives his house phone number which could imply he thinks Lucille spends too much time at their house.

Unit 7 - Francis could be frustrated that Bunny has come down just because theres going to be a party rather than his party specifically.

Unit 8 - Francis is off stage, he could be thinking about how Randy took the news, or even if Judith told him and in how much detail she told him. so there would be a lot on his mind at this point. the next time he comes on stage, this frustration will be portrayed in his actions and expressions.

Unit 9 - as said previously Francis's frustration is brought out on his father Fran. Fran is simply offering him some money, something many people would love to be offered money. i think that he would react the same way with any of the characters regardless of his relationship with his father.

Unit 10 - Francis has gone to purchase some diet soda, he could be buying diet because of his recent weight change, he probably needed some time to think about his problems too.

Unit 11 - here Francis realises what Randy is doing to get rid of Hershel so he plays along and tries to get rid of Hershel. this way he can talk about what Judith has told Randy and whether he feels the same way. he may feel slightly uncomfortable because of how direct Randy was.

Unit 12 - Francis is relief ed he is getting everything out in the open. they both get a little more comfortable when they talk about past girl friends as its mutual land.

Unit 13 - Francis contemplates whether Randy is being truthful or just bringing him on. Hershel comes back and Francis panics and tells him a lie. this lie effects Hershall as he has grown very found of Randy. after they get rid of Hershal again, Francis is confused as to what happened, he also realised he still has some thinking to do.

Unit 14 - Francis is not in the mood to talk to Judith, as he is already annoyed. Francis eventually has enough and snaps at Judith. this is understandable, anyone would do the same if they were in the same situation.

Unit 15 - all the characters have now calmed down even Francis, however their arguments continue. Francis feels that Judith is over exaggerating witch leads to Francis snapping again, this isn't the ideal birthday for him.

Unit 16 - it all becomes to much for Frasncis and he snaps at all of them during his birthday speech. He comments on what he truly feels about all of the characters. he results to throwing cake at every one. Like a pressure cooker, Francis finally exploded, this would of had a huge impact on the rest of the play or his life completely.

Unit 17 - Hershel taking the rat poison would have literally been the icing on the cake. he wouldn't have cared very much. i think that he just wanted everything to be done with.

Research into practioner - Stanislavski

Name: Stanislavski

Born: Konstantin Sergeyevich Alekseiev January 17, 1863

Location: Moscow, Russian Empire

Died: August 7, 1938 (aged 75)Moscow, USSR

Literary movement: Naturalism · Psychological realism · Socialist realism ·Symbolism

Notable work: Founder of the Moscow Art Theatre

Stanislavski's system:

The system is the result of Stanislavski's many years of efforts to determine how someone can control in performance the most intangible and uncontrollable aspects of human behavior, such as emotions and artistic inspiration.

The system is based on an actor being "in the moment" but always staying one step away from complete belief. Actors may use as much or as little as they please in their rehearsals, and was intended to be modified for the individual.

Techniques involve a "Round the table analysis" - a process in which the actor/s and director literally sit around a table and put forward their thoughts on the script and the characters until a clear understanding is formed. His "homework" involved breaking the script into sections of different "objectives." This would be different for each actor involved.

Bunny - Next door - her events are nothing new to Francis, as in this section of Philly they are used to shenanigans
Hershel - Next door - Usually appears annoyed and fed up by Hershel, as he seems to be like a bad smell on Randy in crucial moments within the play.
